Terms of Service
Version 1.0 · Effective 17 September 2026
The short version
- The Strong Suit is a place to show what you can do, find work and collaborators, and build a reputation from work other people actually approved.
- You own everything you post. You give us permission to display it — that is how the site works.
- We are not part of any deal you make with another member. We do not handle money and cannot guarantee you get paid.
- You must be 18 or older, in Canada or the United States.
- This is a beta. Things will break. Keep your own copies.
This summary is not the agreement. The sections below are.
1. Who we are
The Strong Suit is operated by Taylor Boll, 9 Ebony Street, Lacombe, Alberta, Canada T4M 0A8. Contact: hello@thestrongsuit.app
2. Agreeing to these terms
By ticking the box at signup and using The Strong Suit, you agree to these Terms, our Privacy Policy, our Community Rules and our Task Rules. If you do not agree, do not use it.
3. Who can use it
You may use The Strong Suit if you are 18 or older, located in Canada or the United States, and able to enter a contract.
Under 18s: we do not allow it. If we find out an account belongs to someone under 18, we will close it and delete their information. Tell us at hello@thestrongsuit.app if you think someone under 18 is here.
Where it is available: Canada and the United States only. We do not market anywhere else. If you use it from elsewhere, that is your own decision and your own local law applies to you.
4. Closed beta
Access is invite-only and at our discretion. Being on the waitlist does not entitle you to get in.
This is early software. Features will break and change. Data could be lost. Reputation may be recalculated if we find a bug or someone gaming it. The service may be unavailable without notice. There is no uptime or support commitment. Keep your own copies of anything you care about.
Founding Member numbers record that you were early. That is all. They are not transferable, not for sale, have no cash value, are not property, and carry no promise of future benefits.
5. Your account
Sign-in is a code emailed to you. Whoever controls that inbox controls your account — use two-factor authentication on your email. You are responsible for what happens under your account. Tell us immediately if someone else gets access. One person, one account.
6. What we are and are not
The Strong Suit is a platform. We are not part of your arrangements with other members.
We are not an employer, staffing agency, recruiter, escrow agent or payment processor. We do not process, hold or guarantee any payment. We do not check anyone's identity, qualifications or background. We do not supervise anyone's work or guarantee it will be any good.
Anything you agree with another member is between the two of you. See the Task Rules.
7. Your content
You own what you post. We claim no ownership of your profile, proof, projects, posts or messages.
The permission you give us. So the site can work, you give us a non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to host, store, copy, reformat and display your content for the purpose of running The Strong Suit, and — where you have chosen to make something public — to display it publicly and generate link previews when it is shared.
This permission ends when you remove the content, except that backups may persist briefly and completed task records stay as described in section 8. We will not sell your work, license it to anyone else for their own purposes, or use it in advertising without asking you first.
What you promise. Every time you post, you are confirming that: you made it or have permission to post it; it does not infringe anyone's rights; it is not confidential material you are not allowed to share; anyone identifiable in it has agreed; and you have described your actual role in it honestly.
Ideas you send us about the product itself (bug reports, suggestions) we can use freely. That does not apply to your own work.
8. Proof, XP and reputation
Three levels of trust. Proof is labelled Self-posted, Confirmed, or Task-verified. We never say just "verified". What each label means, and exactly how XP is earned and capped, is published on the Levels page — you can check our numbers against what we say.
XP is set by us. Amounts are fixed and published on the Levels page. People who post tasks cannot choose how much XP it is worth. XP cannot be bought, sold or transferred, has no cash value, and is not property.
Do not manipulate it. No fake tasks, no approving work that was never delivered, no trading cosigns, no multiple accounts. We may reverse XP, remove proof or close accounts where reputation was obtained in breach of these Terms, and we record why.
Task-verified proof is a record. Once someone approves your work, that record stays — because they relied on it. You can hide it from your profile. You cannot delete it outright.
9. What you must not do
Break the law, post someone else's work as your own, impersonate anyone, harass or threaten, post hateful content, post content sexualising minors, post anyone's private information, run scams, upload malware, scrape the site, create fake accounts or fake engagement, manipulate reputation, post unsafe or illegal tasks, or share confidential material you are not allowed to.
Our Community Rules set this out in full and are part of these Terms.
10. Moderation
We may remove content, restrict features, or suspend or close accounts where we believe these Terms or the Community Rules have been broken.
What we do not promise: we do not review content before it is posted, we do not monitor private messages, and we cannot guarantee we will catch everything. We are a small operation and we would rather say that than pretend otherwise.
Reporting: use the report button or email hello@thestrongsuit.app. We read reports and act on the ones that need it. We cannot commit to a fixed response time.
If we get it wrong: reply to the notice or email us. A person will look again.
11. Copyright
If something here infringes your copyright, email copyright@thestrongsuit.app with: your name and contact details; what work is yours; your right in it; the exact address of the problem; what has been copied; and the date and time you saw it. Include a statement that you believe in good faith the use is not authorised, and that your information is accurate.
Please do not include a settlement demand or a request for payment — under Canadian law that makes a notice invalid.
What happens next. Canada uses a notice-and-notice system: we forward your notice to the member and keep records identifying them for six months. Canadian law does not require us to remove the content — but posting work that is not yours breaks our Community Rules, so we usually will. Repeat infringers lose their accounts.
If you believe your content was removed by mistake, email us and tell us why.
12. Our intellectual property
The Strong Suit name, logo, design, software and systems belong to us. These Terms let you use the service; they do not transfer ownership of it.
13. Links to other sites
Members post links to GitHub, social media and portfolios. We do not control those and are not responsible for them.
14. Privacy
See our Privacy Policy. It is part of these Terms.
15. No warranties
The Strong Suit is provided as is and as available. To the fullest extent the law allows, we make no warranties of any kind.
We specifically do not warrant that: the service will be available, secure or error-free; your content will not be lost; any member is who they say they are or can do what they claim; you will be paid or get work; or that content posted by members is accurate or lawful.
16. Limits on our liability
To the fullest extent the law allows:
- We are not liable for indirect or consequential losses, or for lost profits, revenue, opportunity, goodwill, reputation or data.
- We are not liable for what another member does or fails to do, including not paying you or not delivering work; content members post; your dealings with other members; unauthorised access to your account through your email being compromised; or third-party services we rely on.
- Our total liability to you for everything is limited to the greater of what you have paid us in the past twelve months (currently nothing — the service is free) and 100 Canadian dollars.
What this section does not do. Nothing here limits liability that cannot be limited by law — including fraud, or death or personal injury caused by negligence — or any right you have under Alberta's Consumer Protection Act or similar consumer legislation, which cannot be waived. If part of this section cannot be enforced, the rest still applies.
17. If you breach these terms
To the extent the law allows, you will cover our reasonable costs from a third-party claim caused by your content, your breach of these Terms, or your breach of someone else's rights. This does not apply where the claim arises from something we did wrong. We will tell you about any such claim and let you take part in the defence.
18. Disputes with other members
You deal with those directly. We are not a dispute resolution service and cannot recover money for you. You release us from claims arising out of disputes between you and another member, to the extent the law allows.
19. Disputes with us
Talk to us first. Email hello@thestrongsuit.app. We will try in good faith to sort it out within 30 days.
If we cannot, the courts of Alberta will hear it and you and we accept their jurisdiction. Nothing here stops you from bringing a claim in a small claims court where you live, or using any consumer protection right that cannot be contracted out of.
20. Governing law
The laws of Alberta and the laws of Canada that apply there. Section 19 still applies.
21. Changes
We may update these Terms. For material changes we will give you at least 30 days notice and ask you to accept the new version at your next sign-in. Small changes take effect when posted.
22. General
These Terms plus the Privacy Policy, Community Rules and Task Rules are the whole agreement. If any part cannot be enforced, the rest still applies. Not enforcing something once does not waive it. You cannot transfer these Terms; we may transfer them to a successor of the business on notice to you. Sections 7, 8, 12, 15, 16, 17, 18, 19, 20 and 22 survive if you leave.
